Congressional Gold Metal for Civil Air Patrol

From 201st Commander,

It is an honor to watch the Congressional Gold Medal ceremony this afternoon honoring Civil Air Patrol's WWII Veterans and the 65 members who gave their lives in their duties of Civil Air Patrol and defending the country.

It is also an honor to have our squadron's WWII veterans that were recognized today including Margaret Ringenberg who was a tremendous female pilot and aviation pioneer. The Fort Wayne squadron was formed in 1942 and we will be celegrating our 73rd anniversary in January, but what we want to do today is to honor our Squadron's WWII veterans as well as all 200,000 who gave selflessly during their time with our squadron and nationwide in perilous times. These members built a legacy and heritage within our squadron that we continue today and strive to do so to keep their work and selfless devotion to country alive.

Congratulations to our CAP and squadron WWII veterans. Well Deserved.

Capt. John Deitrick
Commanding Officer
